Name: Arthur Kirkland
Age: 22
Gender: Male, quite obviously
Country: Merry olde England
Inhibitant or Human: Human
Job: In England, he both attended university and worked at an old bookshop.
Personality:
Even as a child, Arthur Kirkland could never be commonly described as a very friendly person. No... not friendly, empathetic, open-minded, or even a pleasure to be around. Prudish, perhaps. Yes, definitely prudish. Stuffy. Cynical. Obstinate. More along those lines. Of course, this is only what those observing from a distance assume. Not saying that if one steps closer, their opinion will be dramatically differed; only that one may be able to pierce though his prim and proper facade to see that underneath is a (sometimes) loyal, thoughtful young man who, try as he might to conceal it, cares far more about people and events than he lets on.
Running with the theme of negative personality traits, not that Arthur doesn't have his share of wonderful characteristics, another of those would be his incredible ability to act indifferently, or in many cases even negatively, towards things and people he cares about. Take his younger brother, Peter. Yes, he is impossibly irritating, and most likely tries to get on Arthur's last nerve, and in turn Arthur argues with him, insults him, and generally can't stand to be around the boy for longer than a minute. But deep down, he cares a lot for his younger brother. So he'll always look out for him, take care of him, and put up with his nonsense. What makes it so difficult to figure out Arthur, however, is that he acts this way with most, due both to his inability to express himself (which leads to people misunderstanding him) and his cynical view of both people and the world. Anyone who slightly annoys him -- be it by their actions, words, or lifestyle -- will most likely be the subject of his detestation for quite a while.
Arthur is very self-conscious about many things, really almost everything, but especially his eyebrows and cooking. While he's well aware that his eyebrows are... prominent, and his cooking is... sometimes slightly browned, he will deny both of these facts until he's blue in the face. But people's words easily have the ability to hurt him, which he usually copes with by either throwing insults or throwing back a drink or two.. or ten. Not that he has a drinking problem.... really. Though when he does get smashed, as you may have the opportunity to witness, his personality does a complete 180, switching from that of a proper gentleman to, most commonly, a "violent delinquent."
But switching gears, the British man does posses a variety of positive traits, which, if given the chance to do so, can far outweigh all of his negatives. Always striving to be perceived as the perfect English gentleman, Arthur is (usually) polite, courteous, thoughtful, and civil -- to those he thinks deserve it. Quite honestly, far behind his coldly realistic view of the world, Arthur is a wonderful romanticist. he completely believes in true love, and is convinced that he can see the magic in anything. This, however, just causes most people to believe he's not quite well in the head, though most of those opinions vanished as he entered Wonderland.
Likes:
♥ Tea! He's a bit glad to have found himself in a place where others enjoy tea as much as he does.
♥ Embroidery. It is not girly.
♥ Literature. Although he didn't exactly need the money, he got a job in an old bookshop. All the access to books, peace, and quiet that he could desire.
♥ The ocean. He's always secretly dreamed of sailing off on an old ship, leaving the land for months.
♥ Rock music. Although he would never tell a soul, Arthur has a gulty pleasure for rock and roll, especially punk rock. As a child, he was a bit of a delinquent.
Dislikes:
♠ Obnoxiousness. For some reason, this type of person seems to love to be around him. He could not be less pleased.
♠ The majority of his family. His relationship with both his parents and his elder siblings is extremely strained, to the point of there being little to no communication between himself and them on an average day.
♠ The French. As any proper Englishman would.
